Background with Teams

After starting two companies and sitting on a non-profit board, Jacob decided to study team functioning academically.

At NYU, under the mentorship of Roger Dunbar, Jacob specialized in organizational behavior and group dynamics.

In addition to coaching individuals and teams, Jacob developed a group dynamics framework and curriculum for the Guild of Future Architects’ Flagship Incubator.

In the field, Ken Macher has been a long-time mentor and collaborator.

Background in Meditation

Jacob has studied and practiced the craft of meditation diligently for 28 years, in both traditional and academic contexts. His primary teachers are lineage holders in Sufic, Vedic, and Taoist traditions.  Academically, he received my B.A. from NYU with a specialization in world mysticism, organizational behavior, and narrative theory.

Beyond his own practice, he has also taught and guided people in various capacities for more than 20 years in the Inayatiyya lineage of Hazrat Inayat Khan’s Sufism, ranging from one-on-one guidance to week-long group retreats to teaching teachers. Jacob was the inaugural administrator of a 4-year meditation school, where he has also been a mentor in both a 2-year core program and 2-year graduate courses. He currently serves as the Co-Vice President of the Inner School of this ancient lineage.

His orientation to meditation is grounded in experience (his and others), science-based research, and the disciplines as they’ve been passed down from teacher to student through traditional lineages.
